Bio
Dr. Becky Shum was born and raised in Vancouver before moving east to complete her Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto. Driven by her passion for helping others, she pursued dentistry and returned to British Columbia to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia. During her studies, Dr. Shum developed a particular interest in root canal therapy and tooth extractions.
After practising in Alberta for several years, Dr. Shum returned to the Lower Mainland, the place she calls home. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is committed to expanding her knowledge and skills through continuing education. Dr. Shum takes a patient-centred approach to care, focusing on providing personalized treatment while helping patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their dental experience.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Shum enjoys staying active through snowboarding, working out, and practising hot Pilates. She also participates in international outreach initiatives, volunteering her time to provide dental care to underserved communities in countries including Bhutan, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica.
