Bio
Dr. Pinar Alkumru is a board-certified orthodontist with more than 20 years of clinical and academic experience. She’s passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles and has special interests in clear aligner therapy, complex multidisciplinary cases, and facial aesthetics.
She began her dental and orthodontic training abroad before completing the Dental Specialty Assessment and Training Program (DSATP) at the University of Toronto. Since 2011, Dr. Alkumru has been part of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, where she enjoys teaching and mentoring students in orthodontics. Dr. Alkumru is also an international speaker on laser in dentistry, biomechanics, and craniofacial growth and development, and she continues to lecture at the University of Toronto. She has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, supporting ongoing advancements in orthodontic research and education.
She is an active member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), Ontario Dental Association (ODA), University of Toronto Orthodontic Alumni Association, and the European Orthodontic Society.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Alkumru is married and a proud mom of two daughters. She enjoys traveling, watching movies, and spending quality time with her family.
