Bio
Dr. Fernanda Barona is a Certified Specialist in Periodontics. She received her dental degree in 2012 from the Catholic University of Guayaquil in Ecuador. It was during these years that Dr. Barona discovered her passion for treating periodontal and implant-related issues. Consequently, she completed her Masters in Craniofacial Science and post-graduate specialty training in Periodontics at the University of British Columbia in 2017.
She is a Fellow-elect of the Royal Colleague of Dentists of Canada, and an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology. Her research interest focused on the role of leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin on different periodontal procedures and complex implant and gingival reconstructions. In her free time, Dr. Barona enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, doing outdoor activities such as skiing and she is also a foodie and coffee enthusiast
