The Immigrant and Refugee Pediatric Dental Clinic at the Montreal Children’s Hospital offers free dental care for refugee and immigrant children under 10 who do not yet have coverage under the Régie de l’assurance maladie (RAMQ) (Quebec Health Insurance Plan).

All dental care at the Immigrant and Refugee Pediatric Dental Clinic is provided by fourth-year dental students from the McGill University Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences under the supervision of dentists from the Montreal Children's Hospital.

Covered services are provided at no cost and are funded through donations to the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences.

Services offered at the Immigrant and Refugee Pediatric Dental Clinic include:

  • Complete dental examinations
  • Radiographs (X-rays)
  • Regular and deep cleanings
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Fillings
  • Extractions

The following services are excluded from the program:

  • Complex endodontic treatment
  • Orthodontic treatment

The Immigrant and Refugee Pediatric Dental Clinic operates on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from September to April. To schedule an appointment, individuals should contact the Department of Dentistry at Montreal Children's Hospital and specify that they would like an appointment at the Student Dental Clinic.

The Clinic has a strict cancellation policy. A $40 fee will be charged for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice and to patients that do not come to their appointments. If an appointment is cancelled with at least 24 hours notice, no fee is charged to that patient.
